Pellet plant announced for Georgia

GEORGIA, USA - Woodlands Alternative Fuels has announced plans to construct a wood pellets production facility in Meig, Ga.

NorthFulton.com reports the new facility is use sawmill waste and pulpwood for the creation of wood pellet fuel. Roughly 60% of the pellets will be sold to international markets, according to the company, a joint venture between Thomasville, Ga.-based consulting company Woodlands Resources, Sweden`s World Wood Products and a private investor based in Jacksonville, Fla.

Gov. Sonny Perdue announced the new plant`s creation at a press conference in Atlanta. "With the location of Woodlands Alternative Fuels, Georgia continues to be at the forefront of the national movement to a higher level of renewable energy," he said. "We are truly the bioenergy corridor of the nation."
