Monsanto to dedicate facility expansion Friday Friday, November 7, 2008
JERSEYVILLE, Ill. - Monsanto is dedicating the $3 million expansion of its Jerseyville Agronomy Center on Friday.
Monsanto`s Jerseyville Agronomy Center is home to biotechnology`s first field trials, where tests of a transgenic crop, tomatoes modified to resist insects, disease and Roundup herbicide, were done at the Jerseyville research farm in 1987.
Monsanto is an agricultural company that applies innovation and technology to help farmers around the world produce more while conserving more.
The $3 million expansion began in April and was completed in October, and includes a new office building and seed processing facility.
