Real issues should be focused with mission oriented vision said Vice Chancellor University of Karachi Prof. Dr. Pirzada Qasim Raza Siddiqui while addressing the concluding ceremony of a five-day workshop titled Green Spin in Biotechnology organized by Dr. A. Q. Khan Institute of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering (KIBGE) from January 9th to 13th 2010.<br /> <br /> VC further said that problems related to food security should be on our top priority. While, Chief Guest of the concluding session of the workshop, Prof. Dr. Syed Hasan Mujtuba Naqvi, former Director General NIBGE, NIAB and KIBGE enlightened the audience that efficient utilization of barren and salt effected lands through genetically modified crops will improve the economic condition of the nation by mobilizing all linked macro or micro industries, which enable to provide jobs and sufficient food supply for the growing needs of the population.<br /> <br /> The main objective of the workshop, as explained by Director General, KIBGE, Prof. Dr. Syed Irtifaq Ali, is to provide a venue to future researchers to gain hands-on training in various biotechnological techniques.<br /> <br /> The Resource persons of the workshop Dr. Shahid Mansoor (NIBGE, Faisalabad) and Dr. Javed A. Qureshi (USA) gave practical demonstration to the participants of the workshop regarding gene cloning; genetic transformation and DNA related techniques. Prof Dr. Abid Azhar, Co-Director General, informed the audience that KIBGE is continuously organizing training programs for the last two years to training man power in the field of biotechnology. <br /> <br /> © 2010 The Connors Group, Inc.<br />
