Health Insurance Marketplace (obamacare) Phase 2 of the Special Enrollment Period Pre-Enrollment Verification (SEPV) process begins tomorrow. Consumers who qualify for a Special Enrollment Period (SEP) because of the list below will now be subject to pre-enrollment verification:
- Loss of Coverage
- Permanent Move
- Marriage
- Gaining or becoming a dependent through adoption, placement for adoption, placement in foster care, or a child support or other court order
- Medicaid/Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) denial
Consumers have 60 days from the date of their SEP-qualifying event to enroll, change plans, or add their new dependent(s) to their current coverage. However, consumers must submit documents to confirm eligibility for their SEP within 30 days of their plan selection.
An SEP Verification Issue (SVI) will be created when new applicants qualify for an SEP that’s subject to pre-enrollment verification. Before their enrollment is finalized, consumers must submit documents that confirm their eligibility for the SEP.
